It is from the Oligocene epoch. That mean that it is about 34-22 million years old, It looks like its modern relatives but is completely extinct. I don't think the genus is present along the northwest coast here now.

So, the crabs we have around nowadays are not an evolved form of this guy, if it's extinct, right? They're different enough to have their own genus... I couldn't tell the difference, lol, it looks the same to me. Then again, an octopus and a squid were pretty much the same in my mind, until I just googled both to see the differences, lol, so I'm definitely not a reference. Yeah, I thought a squid was just a smaller size kind of octopus, lol. I'm all better now, though... really.
